Client:

Move Orkin Service Wagon

Category:

White Glove, Transportation, Final Mile

Objective:

We needed to move a one-of-a-kind Orkin Service Wagon from GA to NJ for a customer event.

Challenge:

The first challenge is that there is only one of these original service wagons in existence and it could not be damaged.  Next, the wagon dimensions were 96” high, 11’ long, and 71” wide. We knew this was going to take some special equipment and a knowledgeable crew to handle it. We needed to coordinate, prep for pickup, transportation for linehaul, and final delivery and offload, then pick up and package it again to return it to its original location in GA. Our solution required us to insure the unit for no less than $50,000.

Solution:

We worked with the client and our supply chain to develop a scope for all the tasks required to make a successful move of the wagon. We surveyed the locations, pickup, and destination to understand what we were working with, confirmed the labor and types of equipment required for each leg of the move, and the reverse moves back to their location.  We sourced the best carrier, obtained the required insurance coverage, final mile agent, and crew to make the move. We communicated all activities to the customer and executed to plan.

Results:

By creating a well-defined plan, executing to that plan, communicating with the customer and our supply chain partners, we were able to move the client’s wagon with no hiccups.  We completed the delivery, the pickup after the event, and the return of the Orkin Service Wagon back to its home in GA without any damage to the unit, resulting in a very happy customer.
