Store Rollout – US Retailer

Client:

U.S. lingerie, clothing, and beauty retailer

Categories:

Transportation, Final Mile, Debris Removal

Objective:

We needed to deliver holiday displays to 1500 U.S. stores on two unique business days inside malls. The deliveries were date and time-sensitive, and required delivery on one of two preset Sunday evenings, within a four-hour delivery window.

Challenge:

The size and scope (along with the specific delivery parameters) were unprecedented and required a large team to work together in unison. All the moving parts (linehaul, final mile, control tower staffing, warehousing, store management) had to be in sync with the project plan at the right time. The interdependencies were many and tightly woven within the project plan.

The store locations went beyond the major demographic areas and required additional coverage, oversight, and management to fit into the plan. The remote locations offered the largest opportunity for issue resolution and the team was prepared with contingencies.

Solution:

We worked with 250 plus service vendors to cover line haul and final mile deliveries. We developed a detailed project plan and communicated it across our provider network. We produced training documents that defined and communicated specific operating parameters. We distributed these both in written and conference call formats to ensure all members of the team had the same scope parameters.

Results:

The request was next to impossible. Yet, with extensive planning, concise communication, constant follow up and open channels of communication the project was a monumental success.
